Sony at MWC unveiled a
new flagship phone - Xperia
- The device comes with a
6.5-inch (3840x1644 pixels)
OLED display that supports
HDR10. The Xperia 1’s
display uses a 21:9 aspect
ratio. This makes the phone
unusually tall—almost 8mm
taller than Apple’s iPhone
XS Max or Samsung’s new
Galaxy S10 Plus.
Under the hood, the Xperia 1
has an octa-core Qualcomm
Snapdragon 855 SoC,
coupled with 6GB of RAM.
Also, there is the Snapdragon
Elite Gaming to handle
specifically processor-intensive
apps and games. The Sony
Xperia 1 runs Android 9.0 Pie
out of the box. It also features
an IP65/68 water resistance
rating and latest Bluetooth 5
technology. There’s support
for Hi-Res audio, including
Sony’s own LDAC Bluetooth
codec and aptX HD. The

HMD, a home for Nokia phone has unveiled Nokia 9
PureView along with few other entry-level smartphones at
Mobile World Congress.
nokia 9
Nokia 9 is one of the most
interesting smartphones from
MWC. It uses technology
from the Light L16 camera,
released in 2018. There are
five camera sensors positioned
across its back, all five captures
the photo. All five pictures are
captured in different exposures
mode to form a single rich
dynamic image. The Nokia 9
PureView is a high-end phone
at $699

Nokia 4.2 is an upper-entry-
level phone with glass body
and a starting price of $169.
It also packs a waterdrop-
notch on top of the 5.71-inch
HD TFT display. On the
inside, there is a Snapdragon
439 chip with an Adreno 505
GPU and it will be offered
with either 2GB or 3GB RAM

Oppo showed its 10X optical
zoom smartphone camera at
the event in Barcelona. The
technology essentially uses a
combination of a 48MP primary
camera sensor, 120-degree
ultra-wide lens and telephoto
lens. When combined, these
cameras can shoot photos the
equivalent of 16mm all the way
up to 160mm. A 160mm lens
will not make the smartphone a
tool for telephoto photography.
The second and third cameras
have optical image stabilization
or OIS, and the latter has a
stabilization accuracy of up to
0.001445 degrees. Oppo’s 10X
optical zoom camera is said to
set a new benchmark for phone
cameras which are fast evolving
as an alternative to traditional
digital cameras. The 10x lossless
zoom helps the phone take on
entry-level DSLRs in the market.
Oppo demoed its prototype
smartphone at MWC which is
powered by Qualcomm’s latest
Snapdragon 855 processor and
the X50 modem. OPPO did not
share the model number of the
phone or when it will launch, but
the device looks similar to the
Find X but without a notch.
OPPO will also be coming up
with Breeno, AI-powered virtual
personal assistant in its new
products. OPPO said that this
personal assistant, as the hub
of the broader IoT ecosystem,
will be the central integrator
and controller of the expansive
platforms of IoT, wearables, V2X
and many more in the 5G+ era.
12-megapixel cameras: a 26mm
wide lens with an f/1.6 aperture,
a 52mm telephoto lens and a
16mm ultra-wide lens. The wide
and telephoto lenses support
optical image stabilization. Sony
is providing improved autofocus,
up to 10fps burst shooting.
The Xperia 1 will come in black
or purple in the US and it could
go for around $1,100
