AND THE BITTER END – PART 2
Last month I mentioned how I ‘d managed
to get hold of a 1968 pressing of The Beatles’
‘White Album’ for my step-daughter, Becky.
All well and good, except that sadly it was
being sold by a chap who had recently lost
his brother, and who was, therefore, having
to clear out, and dispose of, his possessions.
During the course of conversation I learnt
that not only had this gent collected records
but magazines as well. Unfortunately,
I was too late to alert his brother to their
potential value, so although I got the record,
the magazines, many dating back to
the early 60s, went to the shredder.
Where am I going with all this?
Write a will! If not for the appreciation
of your possessions, then at least to stop
others simply throwing money away.
You don’t need legal advice, nor do you
need to spend a fortune. You can write your
own will. Just remember, provide as much
detail about items as possible and be very
clear who gets what. Get two people, who
are not benefi ciaries of the will, to witness it.
Sign it. Date it and make sure whoever
is going to handle things when you pop
your clogs (and they
can be a benefi ciary)
knows where to
