readers a little bit about yourself,
when and how you fi rst got
involved in the hobby and the
theme/themes that form the
main focus of your collection?A
Firstly, may I say a big
thank you to Taff (a.k.a.
Lyndon Davies at Oxford
Diecast) for making this prize
draw possible and to you for
organising the prize draw.I developed an interest in
cars at a very early age and
began collecting model cars
when Dinky Toys were
relaunched after the war,
starting with the 40 Series of
post-war saloons. Since then
I've collected Dinky Toys and
Supertoys, Matchbox Dinky,
Corgi Classics – the cars and
1:50 scale buses, Vanguards,
Oxford Diecast, Whitebox and
many more 1:43 scale models.
I now have around 1,000
models in my collection.My collecting theme is
diffi cult to explain. It's
centred around 1:43 scale
models, but does includes
some 1:50, too, and it
concentrates upon the British
cars produced since World
War II – although admittedly
some pre-war cars have also
crept in. I've always tended
to buy my models at the time
of release, and as well as new
tooling, I also look out for trim
and specifi cation variants.
Although models from Dinky,Vanguards and Oxford Diecast
form the main part of my
collection, I’ve also added,
and continue to add,
complementary models
from other manufacturers.Q
Do you regularly enter
competitions, and have
you ever won anything before?A
Over the years
I've entered a lot of
competitions and have had
some successes, including
a 1:1 scale car many years ago!Q
