T

he tourbillon continues to generate as much
fascination as it did when it was invented over 220
years ago by Abraham-Louis Breguet. Fantastic in
its shape and precise in its function, it commands immense
respect. And the intricate movement has been modified over
the years, especially as it was adapted for wristwatches.
Taking the feats of Breguet’s previous creations to greater
heights, the Classique Tourbillon Extra-Plat Squelette
5395 encompasses a completely new design, as almost 50
per cent of the material has been removed from the ultra-
thin 581 caliber, without compromising the structure. With a
thickness of just three millimetres, the caliber is one of the
finest self-winding tourbillon movements in the world. It is
the result of a series of complex adjustments that called for
great technical dexterity. Its skeleton framework, within an
18-carat gold caliber — along with its engraving, engine-turning
and anglage — stretches the limits of horological possibilities,
with the watchmakers creating what can only be described as
a work of art!
The Classique Tourbillon Extra-Plat Squelette 5395 is
available in both platinum and 18-carat rose gold cases,
with a finely fluted caseband with a domed glass box, and a
sapphire caseback. The appeal of the model is enhanced by
an alligator leather strap with a platinum or rose gold folding
buckle that matches its case. In its delicate artistry and
technological finesse, the model bears witness to the house’s
rich horological tradition.

Using an extra-thin skeleton
design for its tourbillon movement,
Breguet’s new Classique Tourbillon
Extra-Plat Squelette 5395
spotlights the craftsmanship of
the house’s watchmakers
