Not Kill
● DRAMA / 9pm / More4

NEW

Walter Presents’
Italian crime
drama centres on inspector
Valeria Ferro, a gifted but
troubled cop. She’s a loner
who bends the rules – and
it falls to her boss and lover
Giorgio Lombardi to rein
her in. Just as a father is
broadcasting a TV appeal
to help find his missing
daughter, the girl’s body is
found in a basement... All
episodes will be available
on All 4. ★★★★ JE

The John

Orchestra
● MUSIC / 8pm / BBC4

NEW

The John Wilson
Orchestra is
always one of the hot
tickets of the Proms, and
this year is no exception.
Katie Derham presents
tonight’s prom, The
Warner Brothers Story,
with compositions by Max
Steiner, Erich Wolfgang
Korngold, Frederick
Loewe and Sigmund
Romberg. ★★★★ JP

Fosse/Verdon
● DRAMA / 9pm / BBC2
Life definitely isn’t a cabaret for dancer
Gwen Verdon as Fosse/Verdon continues
tonight. There are some passion-filled
flashbacks to the moment she and her
tortured-artist husband Bob Fosse first
met on the set of the Broadway hit Damn
Yankees while Bob was married to his
second wife, Joan McCracken, also a
dancer. Fast-forward to 1 969 and Gwen’s

in Majorca musing on the state of her
marriage after Bob’s affair with Hannah,
the German translator he met while
filming Cabaret. Clearly Bob has past form
for falling in love at work, but will Gwen
find the courage to call it quits? Don’t
miss Michelle Williams giving a cracking
rendition of Who’s Got the Pain?, the smash
hit from Damn Yankees. ★★★★ HD

Hold the Sunset
● COMEDY / 9pm / BBC1
Edith (Alison Steadman) is at her wits’ end
with worry as Phil (John Cleese) has gone
AWOL following last week’s open-day
debacle at his house. So what she doesn’t
need is an unscheduled visit from her
perennially hard-to-please sister Joan (the
wonderful Sue Johnston, reprising her
role from the Christmas special) who has

come to stay to avoid her neighbours’ noisy
builders. And Roger (Jason Watkins) is
even more unimpressed by Joan’s sudden
arrival as he’s secretly rented out the spare
room as a B&B. Will shrewd Auntie Joan
rumble his naughty scheme and spill the
beans to Edith? And, more importantly,
where the heck is Phil?! ★★★ CC

Premier League
● FOOTBALL / 7pm / Sky Sports Premier League

LIVE

The 2019-2020 Premier League is back, with
Liverpool taking on newly promoted Norwich
(k-o 8 pm) who, under manager Daniel Farke, lit up the
Championship last season. Reds talisman Mo Salah will
want to push the team that extra mile after being denied
the Premier League by a single point and ending up with
the most points ever for a second placed team ( 96 ). Is this
his and Liverpool’s year to finally grab the one trophy
that has always eluded them? ★★★★ NP
