Gone Fishing

Geena Davis learns
the ropes about the
world of wrestling

A web of Spider-Men
(and women and
animals) unite

Bob’s looking fresh-faced
during his fishing and
beauty parlour trip to Essex

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse
● FILM / 12.10pm & 8pm / Sky Premiere

PREMIERE The best filmeverybody’s favourite web-^ made about
slinger – this fantastic CGI cartoon is
bright, witty and so much fun. In a nutshell,
(very) different versions of Spider-Man
from parallel universes – one of them is a
pig named Spider-Ham, for instance – are
thrown together to form an oddball team to

help each other get back to their respective
realities. Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik
Moore) is a schoolboy Spidey struggling
with his new-found abilities, and he is our
guide through this weird and wonderful
world, in a movie that smashes together
various art styles to create something vivid
and kinetic. ★★★★★ NP

GLOW
● DRAMA / Netflix

NEW

The Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling are back
for a third series, and this time they’re in Vegas!
There’s also a glamorous new character on the scene,
Entertainment Director at the Fan Tan Hotel and Casino,
Sandy Devereaux St Clair (what a name!) played by Geena
Davis. Expect the usual 1 98 0s nostalgia, big hair and
laughs as the group try to launch their live show. ★★★★ EB

A relaxing half
hour of calmness,
camouflage and carp
● ENTERTAINMENT / 8pm / BBC2
Likely lads Bob Mortimer and
Paul Whitehouse are off to
Bentley Lake in Essex this
week in search of carp, and
Bob, who turns up wearing
camouflage clothing and his
wife’s wellies, is impressed when
he claps eyes on Paul’s ‘techno-
fishing’ kit. Eventually they do
land an impressive specimen,
and during the hours where
nothing is biting, the chat turns
to the ageing process. In the
spirit of ‘when in Essex...’ this
prompts an amusing outing to
a local beauty parlour to
investigate Botox and hair-
transplant treatments. After a
consultation, let’s just say there’s
good and bad news for both of
them. If you’re a new convert to
the delights of Mortimer and
Whitehouse, the whole of the
first series is available on BBC
iPlayer. ★★★★ IM
