Dave ’s RIG OF

THE WEEK

Margin fl oat rig
This near or far margin rig covers depths from 12-36 in.
In very shallow water, a couple of the No.10s can be
pushed directly underneath the fl oat, to help cock it
more quickly.
The rig can also be fi shed in open water, especially
if carp are competing for loosefeed up in the water.
Although strong, this tackle has enough fi nesse to fool
species such as bream, tench and chub.

Q

Is it possible to
produce a chart that
converts line diameters
into breaking strains?
B. Parsons, via email.

A

I can give you a fair
guide, but hook length
and rig lines do vary quite
a bit, main reel lines even
more so, depending on how
truthful manufacturers
decide they want to be.
