the breathability rating, too,
as it will avoid condensation
forming inside the bivvy.
The material has a small
amount of stretch, to

cope with expansion and
contraction caused by hot and
cold weather.
The mosquito mesh panels
provide the right level of light

during daylight hours.
The extended front rib has
a peak, which provides extra
protection from driving rain.
The two rear mosquito vents

provide air circulation in
hot weather.
You can attach a
winter skin for even
more protection from
the weather, and it
will also provide a
small porch and a
little more storage
space.
If you
remove
the front
panel with
the winter skin
in place, you’ll create
enough room for two
bedchairs. A spacious bivvy,
it looks as if it has been built
to last, which makes the
price attractive, in my eyes.

Description: cage feeders
with a quick-change weight
system.
Specifi cations:
Mini (15 and 20 g),
Small (25 and 30 g) and
Medium (35 and 40 g);
weight-forward design with
interchangeable weights;
stiff loop attachment.
Packs of Light weights
(2 x 15 g and 2 x 20 g),
Medium (2 x 25 g and 2 x
30 g) and Heavy (2 x 35 g
and 2 x 40 g) also available.
My verdict: these
slimmer-bodied feeders
accompany the original
X-Change Feeder range.
They are ideal when you
want to feed smaller
helpings, especially for
species such as roach and
skimmers. I like the idea of
getting a quick bite without
overfeeding the fi sh, and I
reckon these will help you
to achieve this.
I like the weight-forward

system, and the fact
that you can change
weights quickly simply by
unclipping them, which
is especially useful if you
need a heavier one should
the wind pick up.
These cage feeders
release bait quickly, and
will rise off the bottom
quickly when you retrieve
them. The stiff loop of line
helps to prevent tangles,
and I also like the fact
that you get two weights
of different sizes in the
packets of spares.
I reckon the camou green
pattern on the bodies
will help to reduce the
likelihood of spooking fi sh.

SX-i Floater/

Specimen Rod

Price: £99.99.
Description: a carp rod for fl oater fi shing.
Specifi cations: a light carp rod with a
1.75-2.25 lb test curve; lightweight guides;
full cork handle; slimline gunmetal reel
seat; hook retainer.
My verdict: coming with a custom-built
look, this rod has been
designed for punching
out a controller fl oat
with fl oating dog
biscuits, pellets or
pieces of crust on
the hook. I reckon
you can expect
some exciting battles
with hard-fi ghting carp,
on this light rod, whether
they weigh 5 lb
or 30 lb.
They look ideal
for fl icking out a
freelined bait, too,
and thanks to the
progressive action,
I’d be confi dent of
playing carp close to the
bank without fearing that the
hook would pull out.
Kodex give it a rating of 15 lb main
line to a 12 lb hook length, but I wouldn’t
hesitate to drop down to a
10 lb main line to an 8 lb hook
length. The progressive action is
complimented by Kodex’s choice of
lightweight guides.
I’d also use these rods for legering and
Method feeder work for carp, bream,
tench and barbel. I like handling a cork
handle, especially when having to hold a
rod for the whole of a session, which is
what you have to do when fl oater fi shing,
as you need to be ready to strike when a
fi sh takes the bait and the line tightens.
The keeper ring is also useful for fl oater
fi shing, because you want to be tackled
up and ready to go as soon as you’ve
managed to get some carp competing for
your bait on the surface.
