ZACH MENDELSOHN was after perch on the River Thames, at Staines,
in Middlesex, but connected with this PB 4 lb 8 oz eel. Zach, 44, from
London, legered a prawn near the town’s railway bridge, and caught
another eel, of 2 lb, and lost a good perch.
GROUNDWORKER Dean Mckee set a new barbel personal best with this
14 lb 8 oz specimen, caught from the River Trent. Darlington, County
Durham-based Dean added two other barbel, of 10 lb 8 oz and 10 lb,
along with three bream, all on legered boilies.
PETER SAVORY started the season with a bang, catching a 2 lb river
perch on a lure, before going one better, by tempting this 3 lb 3 oz
stripy. Fishing a local river, Hevingham, Norfolk-based Peter, 18,
presented a Z-Man Finesse ShadZ on a size 1/0 jighead.
DANIEL PHILLIPS has just got into fly fishing,
so decided to target carp on a local lake,
catching this PB 32 lb mirror and a 24 lb
common. The 36-year-old site manager from
Sevenoaks, in Kent, fished a piece of cork
among dog biscuits.
JAMES COLLEY topped a five-carp catch at
Yateley Match Lake, on the Surrey-Hampshire
border, with this 40 lb mirror. James, 30, a
mechanical engineer from Newcastle-under-
Lyme, in Staffordshire, legered Sticky Baits
The Krill boilies and fed 15 kg of boilies, hemp,
tiger nuts and maize over four nights.
KYLE ROBINSON witnessed this 28 lb 4 oz
common carp being caught a month ago from
his local Pasture Wood, and then managed to
catch it himself, after pre-baiting a margin
spot. The 26-year-old carper from Barton-
Upon-Humber, in Lincolnshire, offered a 16 mm
Mainline Essential I.B. pop-up to tempt it.
SIMON SELLERS caught this 9 lb 10 oz personal best bream during a
club match on the River Derwent at Menethorpe, in North Yorkshire. The
40-year-old forklift driver from Malton, in North Yorkshire, said: “I was
using an elasticated 8 m whip to fish a red maggot on a size 20 hook to
a 2 lb 8 oz hook link.”
