artificial-intelligence technology. She and her
husband have one son, Jason Cedric Jr., 6.
Company Support: “When I applied to be a
director, I had the support of black executives
who have helped me throughout my career. My
manager, a white man, is one of my biggest
advocates to this day. I cannot think of a day
when my leadership team hasn’t acted as a
cheering section, rooting for me to succeed.”

Intel

Sherri Madison
Planning and Operations Director of Data
Center Sales
Her True Self: When Sherri was 13 in
Augusta, Georgia, she read one of her
grandmother’s Harlequin Romances
in which the heroine of the story was a hospital
administrator. She researched the job and decided
that was the career for her. After earning an MBA,
she needed one more year for hospital adminis-
tration but decided she’d had enough school. An
internship got her interested in operations and,
after joining Intel, she realized her love of
technology. She and her husband have two
children—Emily, 18, and Jacob, 15.
Company Support: “I am valuable because I am a
black woman who is smart, capable, passionate
and collaborative. Images and examples are
important. Being able to see someone who looks
like you or shares something similar to you is
powerful to help define visions and have folks
think about the ‘art of the possible.’ I strive to be
a visible role model. I mentor and sponsor about
10 people currently.”

JLL
Nicole Hom
Regional Manager
Her True Self: A third-generation San
Franciscan, Nicole thought she would
study geriatrics, but a friend off ered
her a job in property management; she
discovered that she loved the industry. Nicole and
her husband, Craig, have two daughters—Addie, 10,
and Bea, 7.
Company Support: “ When I started at JLL, I made it
known to my managers that I wanted to advance my
career, take on new challenges, and accumulate more
responsibility—and they listened. Over the past
14 years, I’ve been off ered many opportunities to
advance. JLL provides a platform and the resources
to succeed if you have the desire. A woman sponsored
me for several years, helping me participate in the
fi rm’s top-tier career-building/-advancement
programs. I work with others now (Nicole is active in
the company’s Women’s Business Network), focusing
on their skill sets, values and potential for greatness,
rather than their gender.” E
