What inspired you to
write a coo kboo k centered
around lunchtime?
The book really came about from
trying to À nd a middle ground between
sad desk lunches and expensive or
unhealthy takeout. I didn’t see anything
out there that bridged that gap. I
kept hearing from friends, family,
and readers that lunch is a hard meal
to À gure out and get excited about,
and one that’s the most challenging
to schedule time to cook for. I needed
tasty, beautiful, nourishing, adult-
appropriate lunches that could be
enjoyed both at home and packed up
for work, which is the reality for me
and my partner, so that’s a lot of what I
was looking to have the book speak to.
With nothing out there that appealed to
contemporary schedules, palates, and
dietary preferences, I knew home cooks
were ready to experience a reimagined
take on the midday meal—and make it
the star of their day.
