Spider-Man:

Into the

Spider-Verse

Otherhood

AUGUST NETFLIX
This adaptation ofBritish
author William Sutcliffe’s 2008
comic novel about interfering
mothers and immature sons
transfers the action from
Pinner and London to
Poughkeepsie and New York.
Three suburban moms turn
up unannounced at the homes
of their 30-something sons,
determined to stay for a week
and learn why their offspring
haven’t properly grown-up.
Patricia Arquette, Angela
Bassett and Felicity Huffman
play the mothers, and Jake
Hoffman, Sinqua Walls and
Jake Lacy are the sons.

AUGUST SKY CINEMA
This dazzlingly playful, Oscar-winning animated
movie takes Marvel Comics’ friendly neighbourhood
crime-fighter into fresh realms. Brooklyn teenager
Miles Morales (voiced by Shameik Moore) has a go
at the web-slinging superhero’s role after, you’ve
guessed, getting bitten by a radioactive spider. But
he’s soon encountering a bunch of other Spideys
from other dimensions, notably a jaded, run-to-seed
adult Spider-Man (Jake Johnson), Spider-Gwen
(Hailee Steinfeld), an anime Peni Parker (Kimiko
Glenn), a hard-bitten Spider-Man Noir (Nicolas
Cage), and even a porcine hero, Spider-Ham (John
Mulaney) – all of them animated in different ways.

Bohemian Rhapsody

SEPTEMBERSKY CINEMA
It’s no surprise that this exuberant Freddie Mercury biopic
was a box-office smash and rewarded Rami Malek with a
well-deserved Best Actor Oscar. The film – which follows
Freddie joining Queen in 1970 to the band’s unforgettable
performance at Live Aid in 1985 – received harsh reviews,
but grossed more than $900million worldwide. Malek
took singing and dancing lessons to belt out the likes
of We Will Rock You and We Are the Champions.

Smallfoot
JU LYSKY CINEMA
Turning the legend of the
abominable snowman
upside down, this jaunty
animated romp imagines
a Himalayan village of
yetis for whom humans,
who they call Smallfoot,
remain a legend. And, of
course, no one believes the
exuberant young yeti called
Migo (voiced by Channing
Tatum) who claims to have
met a fabled Smallfoot.
Prepare for cute critters,
slapstick fun and songs.

Superheroes from
different dimensions
join forces

Will anyone
believe Migo?
