Johnny English
Strikes Again
JU LY SKY CINEMA
Rowan Atkinson’s bumbling secret
agent still raises a smile in his third
big-screen adventure. And, to be
honest, his blithely overconfident
ineptitude does seem far more in
tune with the times than James
Bond’s effortless panache. Ex-Bond
girl Olga Kurylenko offers support,
as does Ben Miller’s returning MI7 agent.
Ralph Breaks
the Internet
AUGUST SKY CINEMA
Wreck-It Ralph, the building-
smashing video-game bad guy
from Disney’s jaunty animated
fantasy, is back. This time, big
softie Ralph (voiced by John C
Reilly) and pal Vanellope von
Schweetz (a squeaky Sarah
Silverman) hunt for a spare
steering wheel to fix
Vanellope’s cart-racing
game. As you’d expect,
their mission delivers
another round of whizz-
bang visuals and lots of
pop-culture in-jokes.
Creed II
LATE SUMMER
SKY CINEMA
Three years after 2015’s
hit spin-off movie
Creed lifted the Rocky
franchise off the canvas,
the sequel comes out
swinging to set up the
grudge match to end
them all – Michael B
Jordan’s scrappy-
contender-turned-heavyweight-
champ Adonis Creed v the son
of the man who killed his dad
in Rocky IV, Russian hulk Viktor
Drago (Florian Munteanu).
The fight scenes still pack quite
a punch while the episodes
outside the ring feature the
welcome return of Sylvester
Stallone as Rocky.
Mortal
Engines
LATE SUMMERSKY CINEMA
Having auspiciously mined
Tolkien’s Middle-Earth for
box-office gold, Peter Jackson
has turned to another British
fantasy writer, Philip Reeve, for
another blockbuster adventure.
The setting is a post-apocalyptic
future in which London is a giant
city on wheels that gobbles up
any smaller settlements in its
path. Hera Hilmar’s plucky young
heroine, however, wants to throw
a spanner in the works. Look
forward to dazzling steampunk
visuals and cliffhanger thrills.
