Aquaman
AUGUSTSKY CINEMA
Until now, Jason Momoa’s supersonic swimmer Aquaman
has been paddling in the shallows by comparison with his
fellow DC Comics superheroes Batman, Superman and
Wonder Woman. But he makes a big splash with his first
solo adventure, a colourful aquatic romp that sees the
half-human heir to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis
striving to prevent his half-brother Orm (Patrick Wilson)
waging war on the human world. Amber Heard plays his ally
and love interest, telepathic Atlantean warrior Mera, and
Nicole Kidman cameos as his mother, Queen Atlanna.

Chris Evans hangs up Captain
America’s shield to play an Israeli
agent in this true-story thriller
based on the 1981 Mossad mission
to rescue thousands of Ethiopian
Jews from Sudan. The daring
mission revolved around a very
audacious sting that saw Israeli
spies opening a fake diving resort
on the shores of the Red Sea. The
holiday village looked idyllic and
the guests were real. Evans stars
alongside Michael K Williams,
Haley Bennett and Greg Kinnear.

Having played Rue in The Hunger
Games, Amandla Stenberg is no
stranger to teen dystopias and she’s
up against another oppressive adult

per cent of children have died from a
mysterious disease, but the survivors
- including Stenberg’s 16-year-old

First Man
JU LYSKY CINEMA
Ryan Gosling reunites with
La La Land director Damien
Chazelle for this reflective yet
exhilarating biopic of the first
man on the moon, Neil Armstrong.
We all know the outcome, of course,
but you will find your heart in your
mouth all the same as events build
towards the history-making Apollo 11
mission in 1969. Gosling digs deep as
the buttoned-up, cool-under-pressure
Armstrong, and Claire Foy is rock solid in
support as his steadfast but anxious wife.
