a pregnancy test. He was against
the idea, and told her that they
couldn’t do this to themselves again.
“But I couldn’t wait. I went to the
pharmacy, bought a test and did it
secretly. It was positive. I told Justyn,
but we were both sceptical about
the accurately of home pregnancy
tests. The next day, I went to the
laboratory to do a blood test to find
out if I was pregnant or not. I was very
realistic and calm about it. I had to
wait three hours to get the results –
on my own – I was beside myself.”

A dream come true
Little did Bianca know that her dream
of becoming a mother would finally
become a reality. “After three hours,
I went back to get the results.
When I got there, the nurse said,
‘I hope you have a gynaecologist.’
When I asked why, she announced
that the blood test was positive
and I was definitely pregnant.
“I went home without telling anyone
the good news. I printed out posters
that read: ‘We are having a baby’
and stuck them along the corridor

for my husband to read when he
came home. When he arrived, he
just looked at me in shock and said
he didn’t think it was possible.”
The couple made an appointment
with a gynaecologist for the next
day. During the scan, we heard a
heartbeat and the doctor said, “This
is a really big baby!” Turns out I was
already more than halfway through
my pregnancy! We saw this little
baby, this little body, his heart and his
eyes. It was the best day of my life.
“I had the most beautiful pregnancy.
I didn’t get sick, I slept well and food
tasted incredible,” says Bianca.
She gave birth to a beautiful
little boy, Jaxon, on 12 February.
“It’s really hard being a mom,”
says Bianca, “but it has been the
most unbelievable
experience. We still
look at him all the time,
amazed that he’s ours.
It feels so surreal.
“I still don’t have
a cycle. People say
Jaxon is an absolute
miracle, and it feels that
way,” Bianca says. “Honestly, I think
if I had a baby three years ago when
we were trying, I wouldn’t have been
mature enough or mentally prepared
for motherhood. Everything I’ve been
through just set me up. I believe
I’m a better mom because of it.”
So, are there plans for baby
number two? “My husband wanted
us to start trying for another baby
six weeks after the birth of our son,”
Bianca says. “He is obsessed. He’ll
do anything to make it possible. For
me, I don’t think I could go through
all of that again – fertility clinics
and tests and hormone treatments.
I might try naturally. I’m very open
to that, but I just think it would be
the best gift in the world to adopt.
I think it would change our lives.” LL
