Building Better Hamstrings
Your hamstrings were an area that got a lot of criticism in the past. Have you
improved them since 2018?
Yes, I’d say they are 20 to 30 percent bett er now, and you see it in my side poses the
most. I went a bit lower on the reps and focused more on the contraction. Single-leg curls
have helped their development, as well as going very heavy on Romanian deadlift s. I also
gave hams their own training day apart from the quads, doing about fi ve to six exercises
for them every Friday. That made a big diff erence, because now they’re not being trained
aft er all the heavy squats and so on I do every Monday.

The Shawn Rhoden
Pittsburgh Guest-Posing
Fiasco
I thought the way Shawn looked was an
embarrassment and a disgrace to the sport and
the Mr. Olympia. If you’re Mr. Olympia, act like
it. Mr. Olympia should never get up onstage
looking like a skinny-fat guy just off an eating
binge. It’s not good for the sport to have our top
champion looking that way. Everyone says this
is what Shawn always does— takes it easy for
many months, then kicks his ass back into shape
when he needs to. I understand that. But now
you’re the best in the world and representing the
Mr. Olympia title. People used to give Phil Heath
shit for not being
in shape when he
guest posed in
Pitt sburgh every
year, but at least
he was still huge.
Rhoden didn’t
look much bett er
than the average
gymgoer. Brandon
Curry and all the
other guys guest
posing put him to
shame. Obviously,
I know it doesn’t
matt er what you look like until the show in
September, but I don’t think he can come back
from this. He’s too far gone to get back the look
he had when he won last fall. He claims he was
270 pounds for this appearance. 270 my ass. I
might give him a fat 250. I really don’t want to
bash the guy, but we all get called out in this
sport. Roelly got bashed a couple of years ago
for his gut, and he took care of it. Shawn should
have told Jim Manion look, I’m not in any kind
of shape right now. I will come to the show,
shake hands, take pictures, and represent the
title, but I’m not taking my shirt off. Jim would
have understood. Being asked to appear at
the Pitt sburgh show is a high honor. I felt very
privileged to do that in 2018. Shawn knew that all
the top Olympia guys, especially the champ, are
invited. He should have been prepared.

Multivitamin That Boosts Testosterone
Nathan, I have been told many times that the fi rst supplement I should invest
in before gett ing into whey protein or pre-workouts is a multivitamin. There are so
many out there; which one do you recommend?
I use Vitamin T, the MuscleMeds new testosterone-boosting multivitamin
from MuscleMeds. It’s a complete multi with powerful test-boosting ingredients
like fenugreek, tribulus, boron and Longjack to enhance physical and sexual
performance. They also packed it with potent antioxidants such as lycopene, lutein,
N-acety lcysteine,
and alpha-lipoic
acid to support the
immune system and
optimal men’s health.
As you can see,
this is no ordinary
multivitamin!
