Pegasus

WHAT IS IT? A beautiful white winged horse.
WHAT’S THE DEAL? The history of Pegasus begins from ancient
Greek mythology. Pegasus is a flying horse with wings that
can only be controlled with a golden bridle. In some stories
it was said to be the horse of the legendary hero, Hercules.
COOL FACT: The creators of My Little Pony took
inspiration from Pegasus, from their ability to fly to walking
on clouds. Cute!

Phoenix

Elf

WHAT IS IT? A mythical bird that’s the size of an eagle which rises through the fire.
WHAT’S THE STORY? The Phoenix myth comes from ancient Greece and Egypt,
where it is described as a heron, a bird of great beauty with gold and
scarlet feathers. The story goes that the bird lives for several hundred
years before it dies by setting itself on fire. However, it then starts a new
life from the ashes of the fire.
FAMOUS PHOENIX: In the Harry Potter stories the character, Dumbledore
has a pet phoenix called, Fawkes.

Unicorn

WHAT IS IT? This creature is shaped like
a horse and has one single, spiral shaped
horn growing out of its forehead. So pretty!
WHAT’S THE STORY? There are thousands of
tales about the unicorn, and depending on
which tale you read, the unicorn is always
described differently. In Europe; they’re wild
and untamed, whilst in Eastern tales they
are gentle and magical. Here at It GiRL we
think they’re simply beautiful!
DID YOU KNOW? The word unicorn actually
means one horn.

WHAT IS IT? An elf is usually represented as
a supernatural, small delicate creature

and magical powers.
WHAT’S THE STORY? The myth of elves comes
from Medieval Germany folk tales where
elves are strongly related with magic and nature.
FAMOUS ELVES: The most famous of all elves are
Santa’s toy-making elves, of course!
