CHANDRAYAAN-2 will carry fourteen scientific payloads
It will observe the lunar surface (from 100 km away) and relay communication between earth and lander. The orbiter will carry eight instru-ments, two cameras for surface mapping, large area soft X-ray spectrometer and solar X-ray monitor to identify and map lunar elements; an
infra-red spectrometer for mineral mapping, radar to search for buried water, Chandra’s Atmospheric

Composition Explorer-2 to detect water above
surface and a radio for lunar atmospheric studiesNamed Vikram, the lander is designed to execute

a soft landing near the moon’s south pole.
Vikram’s payload comprises three instruments to study landing site properties: a Langmuir probe,

an instrument for lunar seismic activity and Chandra’s Surface Thermo-physical experiment
