he vision of Shri. K. C. Ramamurthy and his wife Dr. Sabitha
Ramamurthy led to the founding of the CMR Jnanadhara Trust®
and through it the growth of the CMR Group of Institutions.
The CMR Group of Institutions is a Bangalore-based educational
conglomerate that comprises a number of institutes of higher
education, Montessori / K-12 schools, various centres of excellence
in training, research and consultancy. Over 20,000 students
including International students from more than 60 countries study
within CMR’s portals of learning. Nearly 1500 highly qualified faculty
and staff work at CMR. Academic programmes are varied and cover
areas of study including engineering, architecture, education, law,
management, humanities, economics, commerce, media studies,
business administration and psychology, at the undergraduate,
postgraduate, and doctoral levels.
Recognizing the high quality educational services being
rendered by the CMR Group of Institutions, the Govt. of Karnataka
accorded its approval to the group to start the CMR University in
2013, which started functioning from 2014-15 with the approval
of UGC.

together explore, discover and create the future.
At CMRU, we believe that creativity is the key competence
required to excel in our complex world where independent
thinkers, product leaders, artists, designers and innovators are the
need of the hour. Our students learn creative concepts and design
thinking regardless of their area of study. Students are evaluated
on the basis of real life skills such as teamwork, presentation,
research and initiative.
CMRU is a structured and process-driven University, with a
focus on adopting best practices in institutional governance and
academic management. CMRU has a diverse faculty expertise
from both academic and industry background, with stress on
quality of teachers and methodology of teaching. The faculty are
trained in creative and innovative teaching techniques enabling
the University to successfully adopt UGC’s Choice Based Credit
System (CBCS) wherein the students can earn additional 20 credits
for honors in their specialization or inter-disciplinary and trans-
disciplinary subjects, which will make them multi-skilled and
better relevant in the market.
The University is offering 28 graduate and 10 postgraduate
degree programmes along with Research programs in eight
Schools of Studies namely Management, Social Sciences and
Humanities, Economics and Commerce, Engineering and
Technolog, Architecture, School of Sciences and Education. Centre
for Skills and Foreign Languages offers various language and skills
training to the staff and students.
The CMRU “Makerspace” promotes multidisciplinary thinking
and collaboration. The space is open for students to incubate
companies, build prototype, and conduct academic projects. It
also features exciting guest lectures, hackathons, and industry
interactions that unlock further opportunities.
CMRU has entered into an MoU with Chartered Institute of
Management Accountants and Association of Chartered Certified
Accountants to introduce integrated education programs,
innovative teaching techniques, research projects, publications
and academic interventions.

espite being located in a small town, Pollachi, Dr. Mahalingam
College of Engineering and Technology (MCET) a 21-year-
old self-financing Autonomous institution is one among the
best engineering colleges in India according to NAAC.
• NAAC has awarded the highest grade of A++. MCET is the only
college in Tamil Nadu to have achieved this feat.
• A joint survey of AICTE and CII has conferred Platinum rating for
industry linkage.
• NIRF has ranked MCET 184th place among all top engineering
colleges across the country.

MCET believes employability can be achieved only through
hands-on practice, hence the campus has established over 15
Centres of Excellence in partnership with MNCs of global repute viz;
Bosch, Siemens, TUV Rheinland, Janatics etc.,

Accomplishments in the current academic year are:
• Over 550 students have been placed in top ranking companies
such as Infosys, NTT Data, ZOHO, INTEL, Soliton, Biju’s etc with
over 610 offers.
• Around 1685 students across the four years are undergoing
internship.
• Unique initiatives like; Industry attachment programme,
Collaborative Educational Programme, Work Integrated Learning
etc., make the students industry ready.

In recognition of students with good academic progression:
• Choice based credit system allows completing the course in 7th
Semester itself.
• Industry Attachment Program renders opportunity to get
pertinent exposure in 4th and 6th Semester breaks in a graded
approach through sequentially training.
• Eventually the 8th Semester is kept free to undergo 6-month
internship.

Exclusive Language Learning Centre offers Communication Skill
Building Programme.
• Hindi is made mandatory for all students.
• Interested students are given German and Japanese coaching as
well.

The college is committed to grooming the students into prolific
professional in their field of choice:
• Around 41 students are enrolled into national and international
premium institutions, 2017-18.
• 9 students were granted Australian 476 Visa that entitles
internship cum placement.
• 25 IAS Aspirants across departments are undergoing UPSC
Couching Classes.

Centre for Innovation, Business Incubation, and Entrepreneurship
(CIBIE) supports those who prefer to become an entrepreneur:
• 9 students and alumni are running their Start-up companies in
the Incubation Centre.
• Two such start-ups, a spinoff of CIBIE have made their mark in the
market already.
