An immersive exhibition of Leonardo da Vinci’s

masterpiece, The Virgin of the Rocks at the National

Gallery, London will explore the painting in four distinct

spaces, each of which invites you to look at the painting

in a new way. Using projection-illed spaces, light and

shadow experiments and an imagined chapel where

you can see the painting hanging on the walls as it was

intended, the experience will reveal Leonardo’s working

practices as well as the secrets hidden in the painting.

Each year since winning the BP Portrait Award

in 2009, artist and teacher, Peter Monkman has

painted the portraits of the head girl and head

boy at Charterhouse School, where he is director

of art. This series of portraits, exploring the

themes of youth, hierarchy and gender behind the
