Organized by Sarawak Tourism Board, the
Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF)
is an eagerly awaited annual music festival
that promotes the lush surroundings of
Sarawak’s rainforest and the indigenous
rhythms brought by performers from 30
countries. With the slogan “Many Tribes One
Vibe”, the eclectic performers showcasing
their traditional musical instruments with
the fusion of contemporary music reflect the
diaspora of cultural heritage. Held in Sarawak
Cultural Village which is 35km away from the
capital city of Sarawak, Kuching, the festival
is expected to receive crowds around 20,
people. The event runs from 12 to 14 July 2019.
What could be more harmonious than music in
the natural landscape of Sarawak?
The RWMF organiser takes measures towards
sustainable waste management as well and
will be on hand to encourage recycling.
An estimated 60,000 plastic bottles were
accumulated at last year’s festival, something
the organiser does not want repeated, so
festival-goers are encouraged to bring their
own reusable water bottles. Why not revel in
the music and go green at the same time?
