works of art from a few of her favorites—a Lori
Glavin hangs in the den and a Gina Julian in the
formal living room. “The powder room wallpaper
by Nicolette Mayer is pretty spectacular, too,”
says the designer.
Though the Youngs brought a few pieces from
Austin with them, they said goodbye to the bulk of
their furniture to simplify the move and allow
plenty of freedom in the design process. Courtney
and Ashley both agree that the anticipated arrival
of a baby girl influenced some of the decisions.
“You can see feminine touches throughout the
house—sometimes subtle, sometimes not—which
is exactly the way Courtney wanted it,” says
Ashley. And, of course, the nursery itself is tailor-
made for a girl. “We loved blush for this space and
added details like the wallpapered ceiling, acrylic
crib, and sheepskin rug,” says Ashley.
While Courtney adores the transformed
interiors and all the new hues in her home, the
most satisfying aspect of the project is more
personal. “For me, the best part of this process
was working with my friend,” she says. “I design
events for a living which, in a way, is somewhat
similar to Ashley’s profession. So I knew I needed
to trust her and not get too stressed over the small
stuff. I think it’s important to hire a professional
that you connect with and who understands your
style. The end result is everything I hoped for and
so much more.” Adds Ashley, “Courtney is all
about fun, and now this home is a true reflection of
her vibrant personality.”

subtle shades in the dining

painters such as Jenn Thatcher
helps tell this stunning abode’s
unique color story. Custom paint

belonged to Courtney Young’s
grandparents a new look that’s
ideal for a modern Texas home.
