HALF A

CENTURY

HITS THE

ROAD

As part of the
50th-birthday
celebrations,
a convoy of Jaguar
XJs travelled from the
company’s Castle
Bromwich assembly
plant in the UK to the
Paris Motor Show,
taking in a series of
locations along the
way, including the
Le Mans race circuit.
The line-up featured
all eight generations
of XJ produced since
1968, led by the 1968
Series I, which made
its debut at this
biennial auto show
50 years earlier.

almost Bentley-like luxury feel to it. You
could be chauffeured in it, but the wild
cat is preferably a driver’s car.
One of the oldest cars in Jaguar’s
port folio, this might be the last old-
school XJ ever produced, judging by
what a great job the cat whisperers did
with the new fully electric performance
SUV, the I-Pace. Soon, it’ll be, “Rust in
peace, you gas-guzzling V8s”.
