PARIS BRUMMER, PHOTOGRAPHER
AND ARTIST
Your favourite space at home in winter? Sitting
outside on the veranda with coffee in the midday
winter sun; it warms me up for the rest of the day.
And in the evening, only a hot-water bottle and
blanket will suffice.
Which city in the world would you most like
to visit in winter? Portland, Oregon. There’s
something about folk albums that makes me long
for a small American city with a snow-covered
forest landscape.
Red wine or hot chocolate? Red wine. No good
jazz albums were made drinking hot chocolate.

Paris photographed and wrote three Reasons.

GREG COX, PHOTOGRAPHER
What is your favourite space at home in winter?
My couch, with a good movie and a glass of
red wine.
Which city in the world would you most like to
visit in winter? Norway. I’d love to snow-shoe
through the icy forests and sleep under a dome,
observing the Aurora Borealis.
Red wine or hot chocolate? Definitely a good
Cabernet Sauvignon or Pinot Noir.

Greg photographed the recently opened Newmark
hotel Stock Exchange in Woodstock.

MELISSA WENTZEL, FREELANCE WRITER
What is your favourite space at home in winter?
My bed! I need everything to be covered in blankets
when it’s cold. My bedroom also gets a beautiful
view of the sun setting next to Table Mountain – so
it’s my favourite place for every season.
Which city in the world would you most like to
visit in winter? Anywhere that doesn’t feel like
winter! I’m a summer baby. Maybe a trip to the
Seychelles is on the cards.
Red wine or hot chocolate?
Is this is a trick question? Beer :-)

Melissa wrote four Reasons in this issue.
