Cool blues and soft greys are skilfully
woven together, punctuated by their
collection of beautiful artworks, many by
Fiona’s late mother. Fiona and Iain are
particularly attached to the impasto oil
painting between the kitchen and dining
area. ‘We bought it because we feel it is
reminiscent of the type of atmospheric
buildings often seen in the crofting
landscape of the Outer Hebrides,’
Fiona shares.
However, when deciding on the scheme
for the new living space, Fiona has
stepped away from the soothing
consistency that the rest of the house
enjoys and has chosen punchier colours
and patterns. ‘I found myself craving vivid
tones and graphic patterns,’ she says.
‘My mother was Spanish, so maybe that
explains why a Mediterranean corner was
needed in our otherwise very Scottish,
coastal and cool abode!’
