In addition there’s a dining room,
two-tiered sun room and garden room
converted from a double garage, so the
family are spoilt for choice when it comes
to living and dining spaces. ‘We eat
together every day, so in the winter we’ll
be in the dining room and in summer we
eat at the nook in the sun room,’ explains
Lorraine. ‘The house is south-west facing
at the rear so we get the sun all day until
about 4pm or 5pm.’
Daughters Emma and Kate also have the
luxury of a larch-clad garden room where
they can hang out with friends. Formerly a
dilapidated double garage with holes in the
roof, Lorraine has unlocked its potential in
recent years. ‘The walls were an unsightly
grey engineering brick and there were
garage doors where the double doors are
now, which meant driving in a semi circle

totally transformed the kitchen. Lorraine has
personalised the room with accessories such
as the hob kettle from Garden Trading and
the geometric tea towels from M&S

After changing the wall colour several
times, Lorraine’s finally settled on
Hardwick White by Farrow & Ball. The
Stamford window mirror by Fairmont Park,
Wayfair, has a similar look to this one
