Relatively thick handles fill my hand
well, while non-aggressive jimping
serves to provide additional traction
without being uncomfortable. The
edges of the carbon fiber handles are
chamfered, which is okay for light
cutting tasks. I would have appreciated
more radius to the grips during cutting
tasks that require more force and
leverage. I found myself appreciating
the rounded spine of the blade during
heavier tasks such as cutting zip ties.
It creates a comfortable place for your
thumb to apply a little extra leverage.
The blade of the P671 was delivered
with a shaving sharp edge straight
from the factory. Over several weeks of
testing and regular use, I found that the
factory edge held up well. The blade
received no damage during use, and I
found that by lightly honing the edge
on a ceramic rod once a week, the edge
stayed hair-popping sharp.
Solid
Dependability
If I can sum up the Ruike P671-CB in
one word, it would be: solid.
Despite its smaller size, the knife feels
like it is overbuilt and ready to tackle
whatever task you throw its way. I
like having the ability to deploy it

using either the flipper or the thumb

silence has proven beneficial when
around non-knife people.
The P671 is compact, though a bit
Sandvik 14c28n
Sandvik is a Swedish steel company with a long history of producing extremely
high-quality steels that are used by many well-respected knife companies.
The 14c28n was developed, at the request of Kai Cutlery, by Sandvik to be a
dedicated cutlery steel. A close relative of AEB-L stainless steel, 14c28n was
engineered to be able to reach a high level of hardness while still maintaining
a consistent microstructure. This results in a blade that will be easy to sharpen,
takes and holds a fine edge and isn’t susceptible to microchipping and edge
damage. The steel is also highly stain-resistant.
Ruike takes the extra step of cryogenically treating their 14c28n which not only
improves its edge holding, but increases its toughness as well.
While many consider 14c28n to be a budget steel, it delivers far more than
budget performance. It may not have the extreme edge holding that many of
today's super steels exhibit, but it provides outstanding performance for a good
price and is very easy to maintain.
