The snowclad peaks appeared on sunny horizon
as I approached Auli Skiing Village. The road went
through wilderness dotted with tourist and defense
infrastructure. Mountain village houses reduced in
numbers. On entering Auli, winter snow had begun
to melt. The road and grounds were shedding weight
of layers of snow
and baring.
Auli sorted
emotions of
all the visitors
and elevated
happiness to the
top. It added
shine of a millionstars to the visiting smiles. Everyone on the main
ski slopes was happy. Some were happy at the sight
of snow. Some were happy at the chance to flaunt
woolens. Others were happy at the chance to try
skiing and sledging. A few braved expanses of the
snow in saris and bathroom slippers; a few others
without any rented equipment. They were happy
with their snow selfies. They
were happy while looking
at the artificial lake, mightypeaks, and ski
slopes from the
ropeway.
The lake
provides water and snow in case of inadequate
natural snowfall. The snow guns connected to the
lake spray the snow on the commercial skiing slopes
if required.
