the real ones. The models neither had functional
features of the real masks nor the color schemes. For
example, neither the eyes nor the ears had holes in
the models. The ears and eyes of a real mask have
holes enabling the mask drama performer to tie it
to his face and to see thearena and audience while performing. I could touch
and photograph the models. But, a common person
like me cannot touch the real masks. The latter are
crafted on orders in specific sizes, ensuring the mask
fits the performer. The real ones are worn after
special puja and in suitable conditions for invoking
