To soften the formal features of the

great room and complement the dark

wood of a credenza and Sheridan

bookcase, the designer washed the

whole room in white, recovered the

homeowners’ sofa in a creamy white

velvet and added a pair of pale blue

Louis Solomon chairs to flank the

fireplace. The custom silk draperies

are in keeping with the home’s

palette overall, a pleasing mix of

white, sand and pastel blue.
