This cross-curricular
programme is designed to
encourage initiative and
leadership skills in pupils.
As part of the programme
students are challenged
to organise and run both
on-field and off-field events
for younger students. These
events take place firstly in the
school community and then,
through the club-school
link, in the local clubs and
communities.


Course Structure:



  • The Programme has seven
    modules.

  • Modules are 6 – 10hrs long.
    Students receive a certificate
    for each completed module.

  • Schools can deliver one or
    more modules.

  • Students are awarded the
    “GAA/PDST Future Leaders
    Award” by completing 5
    modules and organising an
    event.

  • Refereeing Module

  • Event Management &
    Administration

    • Sports Journalism

    • Performance Analysis

    • Wellbeing

    • Nutrition




Students can organise any
event linked to any module:
ON – FIELD EVENTS
GAA Super Games
GAA Go Games
GAA Fun & Run
Handball Event
Rounders Event
7-a-sides
Wall Ball Events

OFF – FIELD EVENTS
5 km Runs / Walks / Colour
Runs etc.
Whole School / Club Fun Days
Healthy Eating Initiatives
Wellbeing Initiatives

the students develop in many

These students are
developing skills and
capacities which are vital to
fulfil all of the necessary roles
in the running of a club.

There are benefits to the
student, the school, to local
clubs & communities and the
country as a whole.

It’s one of the fastest growing
TY programmes in the
country with 369 schools
participating (circa 24,000
students), including 12
Northern schools.
