PETTA LK

FA S T FAC T S
YOUR DOG IS DEHYDRATED
WHEN HE SHOWS THESE
SYMPTOMS:

  • Pale, dry and sticky gums

  • Loose skin with poor elasticity

  • Dry nose

  • Dry mouth

  • Sunken eyeballs that appear dry

  • Increased heart rate

  • Lethargy

  • Constipation
If you think that your pet might be
dehydrated, offer him some water, but be
careful that he doesn’t gulp it down. Take
    him to the vet immediately.

Car safety

We don’t drive often, but how can I
ensure that my pet is safe in the car
while driving?

P

ets must be properly restrained in a
vehicle. In the event of an accident, your
unharnessed pet will likely be thrown from the
car, and could suffer serious or fatal injuries.
Use a pet travel crate or a seat belt harness
designed for the size and weight of your dog.
Cats should be secured in a cat carrier. The
carrier can be placed behind the front seats
or secured on the seat with a crate harness
connected to the seatbelt. Small pets can be
transported in a travel carrier placed behind
the front seats.

Even in winter, your pet
still needs fresh water to
drink every day.

Y

ou may be in love with your new puppy, but you will need to set some boundaries
to ensure your dog grows up to be the companion you want. If you don’t want your
Saint Bernard to sleep on your bed, don’t put him there as a puppy. Consider the house
rules you want to enforce, then start (and stick) with them while your dog is still a puppy.
Obey the rules set by others, like keeping your dog on lead in a public park if required, or
not walking on a beach with your dog if they aren’t allowed there.

Important

rules

Are rules really important when raising a puppy?

D

on’t only consider the size of
your cat’s mouth when you
buy a new food dish, think of her
whiskers too. Your cat’s whiskers are
extremely sensitive and if there is not
enough space for her whiskers to fit
into the bowl as well, she might avoid
using the bowl. One sign that the bowl
is too small is when your cat uses her
paw to get the food out of the bowl.

How do I know if my
cat’s food bowl is big
enough for her?
