We recently decided to add two new

kittens to our family of two children

and two dogs (do you see the pattern of

twos?). It wasn’t a decision taken lightly;

we’ve been pondering the thought for

a while.

We had to decide whether we should

adopt rescue kittens or choose a specific

breed. We finally decided to go the

adoption route. And so our journey

started – finding the ideal feline

companions for our household.

Long story short, two kittens stole our

hearts and the adoption process began.

We had to wait a week for the house

check to be conducted – the longest

week of our lives! We were all so excited

and adrenalin rushed through our veins

in anticipation – will we be the ideal

new fur parents? But, it was all worth

the wait. Finally, we could fetch our

two furballs and take them to their new

home. Watch out for updates on Tigger

SAMANTHA WALPOLE

I am an accredited behaviourist, Vice Chair of the

Animal Behaviour Consultants of South Africa

and practising member of SABCAP and the Pet

Professional Guild. I own my own behaviour

business, Be The Dog.

DR DORIANNE ELLIOTT

I qualified as a veterinarian from the Onderstepoort

Faculty of Veterinary Science in 2002. I began

working in the Bird and Exotic Animal Hospital

directly after qualifying and am now

the head veterinarian.

VANESSA MCCLURE

I am a senior lecturer and internal medicine

clinician in the Companion Animal Clinical

Studies Department, Faculty of Veterinary

Science, Onderstepoort.

NOLEEN FOURIE

After a 13-year journalism career, which included

being the editor of Animaltalk, I decided to become

more hands-on with animals and recently qualified

as a canine behaviourist. I share my home with

my Chihuahua Benji, Chinese Crested Jessie

and kitty Joey.
