“I have always loved following weather reports. At one point in the 1970s, while living in the Australian
Outback, I had a temporary position as a meteorology data collector. Readings from the instruments
were recorded twice daily and results phoned to the head offi ce in Darwin. Now with a (home) by the
beach I am constantly looking at the evolving patterns of the clouds. Th e ever-changing view in sunny
or rainy weather is fascinating. I have enjoyed creating ‘Flooding Rain,’ a situation that we are often
confronted with in Queensland. A lot of debris of objects plus people’s hopes and dreams are washed
away in cyclonic weather.”Ph
