e live in an industrial age and at a time
when instant gratifi cation is the norm.
Making things by hand can seem quaint, but
there is also a big maker movement going on that
infl uences our aesthetic in so many ways. One
of the infl uencers in that movement is Kristin
Axtman, founder of Brooklyn Haberdashery.
Kristin’s brand stands out in the crowd because of
its pure and simple focus on beautifully made and
functional tools for hand stitching. And her mixed-
media artwork sends the same message.
