(Romina) #1
Without discipline and Purushartha (Dharma, Artha, Kama, Moksha), you cannot
achieve anything and you will miss the goal. Atma is the King, Mind is the Minister
and Moksha is the Supreme State. It is with the power of the Atma that the Mind,
creating the expanse and flux, has assumed the state of the Universe. Just as a
lump of clay assumed the shape of a jar, so the mind assumes the universal form.
It is very difficult to control the mind but it can be done methodically, with strict
discipline. To renounce objects of sound, touch, taste and smell, to realise their
unreal ephemeral nature is the ideal way to control the mind.

in vain. He then practiced meditation and
contemplation, and at last realised the
real nature of the Self and found peace
within. Having eradicated the root of all
past impressions, he became free from the
cycle of rebirth. One day, a sylvan Goddess
appeared before the great sage and sought
the boon of progeny. The child later became
his disciple, to whom Dasura taught Vedanta
and the science of peace.

Once, when Vasistha was passing that way,
he heard Dasura narrating a story to the
disciple.

Transcending the notions of the mind
