and is able to say, “Okay fine you are here!
Goodbye!” That any desire shouldn’t arise
in life is also another desire. You can go
on this sort of a trip, “Oh, I want to get rid
of all the desires!” Do you know what the
ancient saints and Gurus used to say? “When
sunlight comes, a candle has no meaning.”
You don’t have to blow out the candle,
just bring it in the sunlight; the candle will
lose its significance. Similarly, if you have
a greater vision in the mind, the smaller
desires will lose significance. When they lose
their significance, it’s as good as you saying
‘Goodbye’ to them. You have waved them
off, because they are no longer significant
to you.

A small sand particle can obstruct the vision
of a vast sky when it falls in your eye. You are
looking at an infinite sky, and a speck of dust
can blur your vision. Small things can become
an irritant on your mind. Suppose, you get a
small desire when you sit for meditation, “I
should get up and switch off the stove!” or
“I have to switch off the washing machine!”
It so happens that the entire time of your
meditation (twenty minutes or one hour)
you will be sitting with the thought “I have
to switch it off.” This little thought irritates
you. It is absolutely insignificant and it is
useless. When you come out of meditation,
you can anyway, switch off that washing
machine! These small things need not be so
important.

See, we don’t desire for the highest in our life.
What we really desire is to make a phone call
to somebody or to get a compliment from
somebody or correct some misunderstanding
or we turn a proper understanding into a
misunderstanding. This is all that we are
engaged in. Our thoughts hover around
really unimportant, insignificant things, but
they appear to be very big. This is ‘Maya’
or illusion. Insignificant things really start
bothering you. How can you get over these
things? It is a skill!

You are SATISFACTION! Nothing else
can bring you satisfaction. The word,
‘Satisfaction’ is not used as an adjective but
as a noun. What can really bring satisfaction
to satisfaction? Nothing! It’s that simple!
So do ‘Nothing’! The whole world is moving
around in order to get satisfaction. Have
you heard about the musk deer, which
exudes perfume? The perfume comes from
a gland near the deer’s navel. But the musk
deer believing that the fragrance is coming
from somewhere else in the forest, goes
round the forest looking for the source of
the smell. The deer cannot smell it because
it’s coming form its own body. Dogs chew
bones and in doing so, they hurt their jaws,
which start to bleed. But, they think that
the bone is juicy and keep chewing it even
more. Finally, they find their own mouths
bruised. This is what happens in your lives.
You search for ‘satisfaction’ everywhere else,
when in reality, it comes from the Being.
