inephiles are drawn to movie theatres every week to watch their matinee
idols weave magic on the screen. Actors try their best to ensure that their
fans aren’t disappointed. However, a few stars have pushed the envelope when
it comes to their characters, and left their followers awestruck.

These actors have gone to extreme lengths to prepare
for a role. Hemchhaya De gives you a lowdown

did squats, jump
squats, lunges, leg

VARUN DHAWAN
Kalank didn’t strike gold at the box office, but Varun Dhawan’s
performance garnered praise from all quarters. The actor began
prepping for this part over a year ago, and his fitness videos on
Instagram are proof that he worked hard to acquire a chiselled body, and
washboard abs. In interviews, Dhawan had revealed he was battling
several injuries while filming action sequences for the film, but continued
to undergo fitness training, which included heavy duty cardio and weight
training, twice a day, to ensure the shoot wrapped up as per schedule.

SHAHID KAPOOR
We swooned over his beefed-up look in
Padmaavat, and now get set to see another
avatar of the star. For his upcoming film, Kabir
Singh, Shahid Kapoor had to work towards
two looks—one, a college student,
and the other, of a jilted lover.
According to reports, to look
like a college boy, Kapoor
lost 14 kg in a short span. It
is said that he was put on
a strict 1,400 to 1,500 calorie
diet a day, along with extensive
cardio sessions. He also trains for
a couple of hours every day, six days a week.
For the 'jilted lover' look, he needed to gain
weight so that the character looks
'destroyed'. Kapoor told the media that he
started eating more even though he hated
the idea of bingeing without control.

AAMIR KHAN
There is a reason he is termed the film world’s ‘perfectionist’. Aamir
Khan is known to dive deep into characters, and undergo extreme
transformation. After doing so for Ghajini (2008), he wowed the
audience with his look in Dangal (2016) by going from an
aspiring young wrestler with a ripped body, to a hefty old
man. Refusing to don a body suit to look overweight, Khan
first gained weight naturally to play the older character,
and then worked for five months to shed the flab and
build muscle. In his blog, Khan recommends weight
training for anyone who’s interested in body building.
