It’s time to create these exotic Kannadiga dishes at home with recipes
from Executive Chef Kapil Dubey of The Den Bengaluru

  1. Place the wheat flour and salt in a mixing bowl. Gradually add water to knead it into a soft dough.
    Add oil to the dough, knead gently, and rest for 30 minutes.

  2. To prepare the filling, dry roast the peanuts and sesame seeds until light brown. Cool, and grind it. Add the poppy seeds, cardamom,
    and jaggery, and grind again. Use water if needed. Once it is ready, add the coconut and mix well.

  3. Divide the dough into small balls. Spread each out with your fingers to a small circle.
    Place a small amount of filling in the middle, then encase it. Roll out gently into flatbreads.

  4. Heat a pan on a high flame, and carefully place a flatbread on it.
    Roast it slowly, apply ghee on both sides when bubbles start appearing.

  5. Serve hot.

wheat flour
Salt, to taste
4 tbsp sesame oil
½ cup ghee

For the filling:
½ cup peanuts
¼ cup sesame
seeds
1 tbsp poppy
seeds
100 g powdered
jaggery
2 big cardamoms
1 cup grated
coconut
