150 g poppy
seeds
200 g rice
30 g grated
coconut
500 ml milk

5 g green
cardamom pods
10 g jaggery
20 ml ghee
2 fried cashew
nuts
10 g fried raisins

SERVES: 2 > PREP TIME: 20 minutes + marination time


  1. Roast the poppy seeds and rice on a pan over a medium flame until golden brown.
    Grind to a coarse consistency.
    Add the grated coconut and a little water and grind again to a smooth consistency.

  2. Heat the milk in a saucepan over a medium flame.
    Add the ground coconut mixture, cardamom, and jaggery, and bring to a boil.

  3. Add the ghee, cashewnuts, and raisins, and reduce the mixture to a thick consistency,
    allowing it to cook for about 15 minutes.

  4. Remove from the flame and serve hot.


TIP:GARNISH THE PAYASAM WITH CHOPPED MIXED NUTS
