RELAX AND CHILL
Does a vacation to you mean wearing no watch,
reading a book and/or sipping a drink by the
pool? Then there’s no better place to do that
than on a lounge chair while cruising along the
high seas at 15 knots.
Foodies will be spoilt for choice by the
generous variety of culinary options available.
Head to acclaimed Australian Chef Mark Best’s
Seafood Grill that serves up the ocean’s bounty
in a spectacular al fresco setting. There’s also
Umi Uma for Japanese delights, Silk Road
for traditional Chinese fare, Blue Lagoon for
Southeast Asian comfort food, and Palm Court
for informal refreshments and breathtaking
views. For adventurous foodies, the Mozzarella
Ristorante e Pizzeria tantalises the taste buds
with a modern fusion of classic Italian dishes
and pizzas with a Japanese twist.
The christening ceremony features designer
Grace Chen, the godmother of Explorer Dream.
The innovative christening is activated by her
magic wand of dreams and aspirations, and
the spirit of exploration. With the traditional
breaking of the champagne bottle against the
bow of the ship, the Explorer Dream officially
begins her journey. Later, Chen, who has created
looks for Oprah Winfrey and Helen Mirren, and
counts China’s first lady Peng Liyuan as a current

client, presents a spectacular fashion show
aboard the ship. Eighteen models showcase her
Voyage collection and walk the runway on the
Palace pool deck.

MIX AND MATCH
The second great thing about a cruise is the
wildly eclectic mix of travellers you will find
on-board—European bargain hunters, large
Indian friend-and-family groups, Chinese
couples old and young, and so on. It is easy to
find your people or lose yourself in the crowd.
You can ditch fellow travellers to enjoy a glass of
Merlot as the sun sets in the horizon. Or karaoke
the night away with fellow hedonists. Give
mindfulness a shot by taking a free yoga class. Or
head to the Zodiac Theatre to watch renowned
productions staged at sea. There’s even a cinema
hall, should you feel like a night in with a tub of
popcorn. And no matter what option you choose,
you are never farther from your room than an
elevator ride.
For the average millennial who believes that
experience trumps things, a cruise offers the
perfect combination of exploring a new port daily
while continuing the sensory adventure on-board
at night. Ocean travel is all about time. And
a day aboard a ship is endless, in a good way. The
horizon, like the vacation, goes on forever.
