TheUniversityofOklahomaCollegeofMedicine,inconjunctionwiththe
OklahomaCenterforGeroscience,seeksadistinguishedacademicleader
inAgingresearchforthepositionofChairofBiochemistryandMolecular
Biology. AppointmentwillbeatthelevelFULL PROFESSORwith
TENURE-ELIGIBILITY. A qualifed applicant for this ENDOWED position
must have a PhD, MD or MD/PhD.
The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology has a diverse faculty
withinterestsinbiochemicalmechanismsofneuro-degeneration,aging,
metabolicregulationorstructuralbiology.TheUniversityofOklahomaHealth
SciencesCenterisanactivelygrowingcampuswith 7 collegesandthree( 3 )
hospitals(OUMedicalCenter,OUChildren’sHospitalandtheVeteran’s
Affairs Medical Center). The environment to conduct scientifc research and
interactwithcolleaguesisexcellent.
Overthepastdecade,OUHSChasdevelopedanationallyrecognized
programinaging,whichincludesaP- 30 NathanShockCenterofExcellence,
GeroScienceCoBRE,andaT 32 TrainingprograminGeroscience.TheChair
of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology is expected to play
amajorroleindevelopingthenewlydevelopedGeroScienceCenterbutto
alsointegrateintoOUHSC’sresearchstrategicplantoexpandtherelationship
between the NCI-Designated Stephenson Cancer Center and the Harold Hamm
Diabetes Center as well as other departments on campus.
