1 0years.ThenewADwillcollaboratewithHillmanCCmembersto promoteandinvestthesefundsinstrategicnewprojects,recruits,sharedresources,andpilot
programs. With our re-naming as UPMC Hillman Cancer Center, a new Director, and upcoming expansion of space for Hillman researchers, Hillman is unifed and
supportiveofcancerresearch,preventionandtherapy.


TheADforResearchAdministration reportsdirectlytotheDeputyDirectorforResearchAdministrationandisamemberofHillman’sleadershipteam.Primaryduties
and responsibilities include: oversight and management of Hillman facilities, scientifc shared resources, development, facilitation and support of multi-component
teamsciencecancerresearchprogramsaswellasspearheadinginternalandexternalcollaborativeresearchendeavors.Tomeettheposition requirements,theAD
forResearchAdministrationwillcollaboratewithateamofadministratorsandPhD-levelscientists,coordinatevisionsettingandstrategicplanning;supportand
participateinCCSGResearchProgramandSharedResourceactivates;develop operationalandadministrativepoliciesandprocedures;workwiththeHillman
Fiscal Offce to develop budgets and monitor spending; develop staff and space utilization plans; oversee facility operations; and communicate research outcomes
toHillmaninvestigators,theNCI,andthepublic.TofacilitateandadvanceHillmanscience,theADwillalso:coordinateCCSGpreparationandsubmission;grow
the funded research base, with emphasis on multi-disciplinary collaboration with internal and external investigators; work with the Hillman Development Offce to
promoteandincreasephilanthropicdonations;assistinrecruitmentoffaculty.


LocatedintheCityofPittsburgh’sShadysideneighborhood,(Pittsburgh isroutinelyrankedasoneofthetop-mostlivableandaffordableU.S.cities),Hillmanisa
NationalCancerInstitute(NCI)-designatedmatrixcancercenterfocusedonstate-of-the-artcancerresearch,trainingthenextgeneration ofcancerresearchers,and
communityoutreach.In 2015 ,Hillmancelebratedits3 0 thanniversaryandtherenewalofits5-yearNCICancerCenterSupportGrant(CCSG).Hillmanhasover 330
members, 10 scientifc programs, 13 CCSG-supported shared resources, and an FY17 institutional funding base of nearly $157 million. In FY16 the University
ofPittsburghranked#5inoverallNIHfunding.Duringits2 015 CCSGreview,HillmanResearchAdministrationscoredexceptional.


Candidates for the position must have a PhD or master’s degree in business, administration, policy, or other research administration-relevant feld. Candidates also
musthave 5 +yearsinresearchadministration,whichincludesanunderstandingoftheregulatoryrequirementsandcomplexitiespertainingtoanimalandclinical
research;familiaritywithNCICCSGrequirements;experiencewithNCI-fundedcancercenters;andexcellentwrittenandoralcommunication,computer,people
management,andinterpersonalskills.CandidatewillbeanAssistantorAssociateProfessorcommiseratewithexperience.
