GAMING

When Valve announced its own digital trading card game based on the MOBA DOTA 2, “Artifact,” back at the
International 2017, most of DOTA 2 fans, yes even I, were afraid that the game would turn out bad.

When the game was released last year, yes it was fun, but it was not the game DOTA fans would pour themselves
over. The game also has a hurdle preventing players from playing. Unlike the older brother DOTA 2, Artifact was not
free-to-play. Players needed to shell out PHP 1,100 to download the game and hundreds of pesos more just to buy
cards needed to build a decent deck.

Fast forward to a few months after the release of Artifact, a new game called DOTA Auto Chess shows up on my
DOTA 2 main menu. Like any other DOTA 2 arcade game I ignored it, knowing that custom games do not offer the
same satisfaction as playing the main game. As Auto-chess popularity grew, so did my curiosity. After eventually
trying it out, I can say that, it was definitely one of the most addicting games I have ever played. And best of all it’s
free to play.
