Before all of the technical details, AMD CEO Lisa
Su took to the stage to explain that the path that
AMD is on today was the result of a calculated
gamble. Decisions on designing the architecture
for the future of processors happens five years in
advance, and everyone in AMD is very proud that
they went with 7nm. That gambit allowed them
to realize the gains that we see today, and has
opened the door for AMD to take the lead in all
the segments they are in.

The future of AMD no longer just lies in PC. Apple
has announced that the AMD Radeon Pro Vega
II GPU will be powering the all-new Mac Pro.

Both Sony and Microsoft have chosen AMD to
provide the muscle for their next-gen consoles.
Cloud gaming, particularly Google’s Stadia, will be
running an AMD GPU, and even in mobile, AMD is
set to make huge changes. Decades of experience
in design, manufacture, and research have put
AMD in a solid position to be the future, and they
aren’t shy about it.

The E3 launch solidified this idea. The AMD
livestream event, Next Horizon Gaming, was the
company flexing their muscles, and showing
consumers that their time has come.

At the start of last month, just before the main E3 event, AMD took members
of the global press to LA to learn more about the latest that the company
had to offer. It was an event that was as deep as it was broad, offering tech
journalists from all over the world a chance to see what they had in store
for the consumers, and just how they managed to achieve its position in the
computing world today.

Class-leading Graphics Performance

AMD’s Radeon 5700XT and RX 5700 GPUs
built on their new RDNA gaming architecture
for unbelievable performance in its class for
rendering AAA titles at 1440p, and blistering
frame rates for current eSprorts titles.

“Seventy percent of PC gamers today are using
three-year-old or older graphics hardware1 that
lacks the necessary horsepower and capabilities
to deliver fully immersive, high-fidelity and
high-performance gaming experiences,” said
Scott Herkelman, corporate vice president and
general manager, Radeon Technologies Group at
AMD. “Our new Radeon graphics cards with RDNA
redefine what’s possible in 1440p gameplay,
delivering stunning visuals, amazing performance
and industry-leading features to take gaming
experiences to the next level.”

Through a lot of clever engineering, and building
upon the technologies that they chose to
wager on five years back, AMD’s RDNA gaming
architecture redefines what it means to game
in 2019. Built from the ground-up for peerless
performance at astoundingly low wattages, they
attacked the requirements of current-gen gaming
from scratch.
The secret of the RDNA architecture is a little
complex, but at the heart of it, it’s a multi-
