Lodging at Annapurna
base camp

Trekking the Himalayas is usually the
main reason people visit Pokhara. This city
is the entrance to popular routes like the
Annapurna base camp trek route, which
can be completed in around eight days. For
the more adventurous souls, the Annapurna
Circuit begins in Beisisahar, an 8-hour bus ride
away from Pokhara. It is often voted the best
long distance trekking route in the world and
is conquerable in approximately three weeks.
This circuit not only takes trekkers through
the most beautiful mountain range in the
world, but puts them in touch with varying
cultures from Hindu villages at the low
foothills, to the edge of the Tibetan plateau at
5416m above sea level.
Of course, other trek routes are available
and fret not, trekking days are flexible and
there are agencies available to help customise
your trekking journey and cater to your needs
and capabilities.
If you’re not too patient and enjoy more

thrilling activities, perhaps zip-flying is made
for you. It is exactly what the name sounds
like; an extreme form of zip-lining. The
launch pad for the world’s longest, steepest
and fastest zip-line is located at the peak
of Sarangkot. Already known for the heart-
stopping views it offers, Sarangkot gives you
another reason to make the journey upwards;
to dangle 600m up in thin air while roaring
forward at 140 km per hour surrounded by
undisturbed nature.
Zip-flying still too gentle for you?
Paragliding over the tallest mountains in
the world should do the trick. In Pokhara,
a price of around RM270 can make this
dream a reality, That’s not a high cost to pay
considering Pokhara claims itself as one of the
best places in the world for paragliding! Not
many would be able to dispute this once they
step foot on the city. If you’re still skeptical,
check out the annual professional paragliding
competition held here.
