Enhanced aesthetics for London scheme
The landmark Sutton Point mixed use
scheme has completed involving Facade &
Glazing Solutions facade design, manufacture
and installation services across its three towers.
FGS installed WICONA WITEC 50 aluminium
curtain wall system which was specified by PRC
Architects for the top floors of each tower to provide the main feature
glazing with spandrel glass and vision with glass to glass corners.
FGS also provided and installed WICONA WICSLIDE 160 lifting
sliding doors combining excellent thermal insulation with highest
functionality and design along with WICLINE 75 EVO windows.

The Jury of ECOLA Award 2019, organised by
Stoand Bundesverband Ausbau und Fassade im
ZDB, has awarded four First Prizes on 17 May
2019 in Stühlingen. Prizes in the category New
Buildings went to Aires Mateus Architects from
Lissabon with “Meeting Centre in Grândola” in
Portugal (pictured) and AIM Studio with “Local Community Center
Gošići” in Tivat, Montenegro. Bruno Fioretti Marquez won the
category Refurbishment/Renovation/Conversion with the project
“Conversion and Extension Schloss Wittenberg” as well as TEd’A
arquitectes with their project “Can Picafort – 4 tourist apartments”.

Profile 22Fully Reversible Windows were specified in
the refurbishment of 15 tower blocks in Bristol. The
legacy PVC-U windows, doors and curtain walling at
15 high and low-rise blocks owned by Bristol City
Council at Eastville, Easton, Clifton, Redcliffe,
Shirehampton and Ashton Gate needed to be replaced
to improve thermal efficiency, security and aesthetics.
The 70mm Optima casement system offers superb design and easy
installation. The slim, chamfered shape is clean, contemporary
and attractive, making it suitable for a wide range of applications,
including casement, tilt and turn, French casement and French doors.

The headquarters of a leading design
practice, located close to The Shard, provide
a stylish example of steel windows’ relevance
to a vibrant urban landscape. Steel Window
Association (SWA) member, West Leigh,
retrofitted three different systems into the
building. W20 and W40 as well as Schuco Primo profiles, painted in
RAL 7024 Anthracite Grey were specified with a satin chrome finish.
Measures such as modern weather-stripping and Argon or Krypton
filled glazing units with low-E glass ensure the replacements offer far
superior energy performance to the original timber fenestration.
