ood things do come from long, cold Midwestern winters. Just ask
Margaret Bau. Margaret bought her fi rst home in 2002 in Stevens
Point, Wisconsin, and could hardly wait to start gardening. But her
1940 Cape Cod came with a few visual obstacles that limited its charm: The
steep roof dominated the facade, and the super-straight walkway that guided
guests to the front door only accentuated the overhead pain point. A lone
