SWITCHED-ON

DESIGNS

It’s all in the detail, right?
Light switches might seem
like an insignificant element
of a room design, but if you
love surprising guests with
fun decorative touches then
check out Swtch. This UK-
based online retailer is aiming
to change how we view
these kinds of fixtures in our
homes with various vintage,
retro and contemporary
designs to choose from. Our
favourites have to be the
colourful range of porcelain
light switches by artisan
maker Katy Paty of the Czech
Republic. Available in primary
colours, pastel shades and a
monochrome palette, we love
how these could be matched
to your colour scheme, with
the circular shape giving a
little extra to the fun factor.
They aren’t the cheapest
option, but perhaps we
simply need to change our
mindset – after all, they will
be a permanent fixture for
years. International delivery
can be arranged on request.

SPREAD A

POSITIVE VIBE

We can all do with some
words of encouragement
or reminders of the little
things as we go about our
day, and these affirmation
pennants by Abby Monroe
are a lovely way to add
special phrases around our
homes. Abby creates the
embroidered lettering on
her vintage sewing machine
using organic Irish linen
and organic black thread.
She offers a selection of
affirmations to choose from,
or you can supply your own.
Abby sells a small range
of other sweet products
in her online shop, such as
a mini self-care kit, which
encourages you to collect
special memories or kind
comments to read back or
found items from a walk

perhaps. Signing up to her
Little Notes newsletter will
also provide you with a free
download of her eight-page
Mindful Walk Guide. Abby’s
simpler, slower approach to
life is truly infectious.

STEP INSIDE,

GET THE LOOK

The world of retail is
continuously evolving,
influenced by the online
world and how we, as
consumers, discover new
things. A new concept which
is emerging is ‘shopping
other people’s homes’.
Hayley Southwood, owner
of UK-based Southwood
Living has recently launched
her ‘shop my interior’ site,
after running an online
store and realising that she
needed to try something a bit
different. Rather than being
a sales person, Hayley aims
to inspire them through her
own ever-evolving home –
mainly through her Instagram
@southwoodliving – and it
just so happens you can also
purchase many of the items
that she loves and lives with.

COLOUR ME

HAPPY

Micaela Martino, creator
of Small Bob, designs her
artwork for children’s rooms
with colour psychology
at its heart. Mica believes
that colour has an impact
on children’s behaviour,
so her personalised prints
and nursery art centre
around blue, green, yellow
and pink palettes. Her fun,
typographical work includes
phrases such as ‘reading
is wonderful’ and ‘more
cuddles, less rules’, as well
as alphabetical prints and
sweet character motifs like
a smiling ice lolly and cactus.
We are coveting some of
these prints for the grown-
up spaces in our home too!
