up. At 15 yards, the arrow hit true,
and I watched as the jake stumbled
10 yards and went down. One down,
one to go, I thought to myself.
A few days later, I returned and set
up on the same flock. This time, the
turkeys passed my stand on a side
hill at 40 yards. A large jake held up
behind the flock — I knew it was my
chance to finish the tag. I drew back
and squeezed off the shot, watching
as the last arrow of my Super Tag
found its mark. The bird flopped for
a few yards before expiring, and just
like that, the Super Tag was finished.
I walked over to claim my prize.
To many, that jake may seem like
any other fall turkey, but to me, it
was the end of a three-and-a-half-
month-long journey full of the most
memorable experiences of my life.
Looking back, I’m still in disbelief
over how the season unfolded. Hard
work, determination and many mir-
acles from the man upstairs made
this all come together. I’m humbled
to have had this truly once-in-a-life-
time opportunity, and I’ve enjoyed
sharing it with so many people.
